Second courses in Italy are what most people would consider the "main course".  In general, secondi piatti are either fish, meat or poultry of some kind, although it is not uncommon to find vegetarian dishes or cheese plates served as a second course.  Vicenza has its own unique food culture and customs, with Venetian influences in its seafood and Northern European influence in its meat dishes. With such a rich food history, it all results in some very fine Italian food.

Second courses vary from fish based dishes like scampi alla busara, and baccalà mantecato (traditional Venetian dishes), to meat dishes like arrosto di maiale (roast pork) and spezzatino di vitello (veal stew), or pollo con funghi (baked chicken with mushrooms). Whether it's just a simple braciola (pork or veal chop) or a more refined roast, Vicenza will certainly please you with its variety of fine Italian food.
