Brenta river

The Brenta river flows down from Bassano past Padova and then out to Chioggia (another beach town) just south of Venice Italy. There are a number of interesting picnic spots along the river where Vicentinos often go for the day to swim and spash around. If you are planning a trip to Italy you might want to consider a day trip and picnic to the Brenta river just to mingle with the locals and get a feel for what life is like here in northern Italy.

One good spot if you are planning a trip out to the Brenta is Piazzola sul Brenta, famous for its antique market which is held every last sunday of the month. Villa Contarini is the setting for the market, and coupled with a little day trip to the river it makes for a nice excursion from Vicenza.
