Caorle beach resort

The little known beach resort town of Caorle to the north of Venice Italy began as a commercial and naval port in 40 B.C. Today this vacation spot is little known to most European tourists but many northern Italians have a rental home in Caorle where they go on summer vacation and holidays with the family.

The quaint town center has narrow streets, little squares, and houses painted in pastel colors. Here and there you can find the "casoni", the old reed houses of the lagoon's fishermen. There is a good deal of family entertainment and festivals organized by the community, like the "bragozzi" regattas of Venetian two-masted fishing boats and the Caorle-vivistoria (Caorle history come alive). You can easily reach Caorle by rental car from Vicenza in just over an hour.
